Artwork

‘The Bobbing Forest’ was first conceived by Jorge Bakker (Colombia, 1973).

The “Subjugator”, as the artist calls himself, lives and works in the Netherlands. He is especially known for his sculptures and installations with an architectural twist, often revealing invisible elements like water and air visible.

His installation ‘In Search Of Habitus’ shows an aquarium filled with water and floating bobbers holding scale models of trees. These floating miniature trees gently float on top of the water and make one wonder about the relationship between city folk and nature and how they relate to each other and the world around them.

Anne van der Zwaag (art historian and cultural entrepeneur) and Jurgen Bey (product designer) encouraged Jeroen Everaert to replicate this artwork in real life.
